Currently, my work spans from experimental montages to dance videos.

Title: Harlem (2024)

This piece was created during my time studying at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. This work is intended to create a video that attempts to explain our interpretation of “experimental” media. The video is meant to display images and music that connect to the poem “Harlem” by Langston Hughes. The music and video are therefore meant to display my understanding of how Black Renaissance, adversity, and fanstay overlap and are communicated through media, and their connection to the feelings of liberation.

Title: Subversion (2024)

This piece was made in collaboration with Erika Braun and Nadia Primer in response to our growing understanding of what love and community are amid the loneliness coming out of student encampments and knowledge of genoicde in exploitation in the Congo, Palestine, Sudan, Haiti, etc. Personally, this piece was my first time attempting to capture the movement and emotion on film, and holds a dear place as it reminds me of the sense of unease, hope, and the fact that a stranger's willingness to love and protect someone they don’t know. Much like a trust fall, there’s a sense of tension and suspension when participating in protests, but it also blooms a sense of resolve, too.

Title: Rest in Power (2024)

This piece was made from a disillusionment with the conception of justice and resistance. While abroad, I was living in a place where there weren’t many people of my race, and there was a sense of disempowerment and empowerment when seeing violence against my people through social media. Therefore, I made this montage to show my pride and sadness in generations of resistance and the unnerving feeling of seeing violence and resistance documented on screen.
